SHOW DAY

ADDITIONAL AUDITION INFORMATION FOR THE TALENT SHOWCASE

When we started the TALENT SHOWCASE 17 years ago it was intended as a way to SHOWCASE the incredible talents of our kids in San Diego County.  All these years later, nothing has changed, well one thing has changed.  I’m a little older and many of the kids who competed in the early years are now signing up their own children!  Where does the time go?  We are looking for all types of acts:  Singers, dancers, actors, group numbers, musicians, comedians . . . Whatever you can do, we want to see!  Read on.

We have three age divisions in the TALENT SHOWCASE

DIVISION (A):   6 to 9 years    /  DIVISION (B): 10 to 14 years   /  DIVISION (C): 15 to 19 years

In each Division a first, second, third and sweepstakes winner will be chosen by our 5 judges.  The judges are all actively involved in the arts.  Each of the winners will receive a trophy and cash prize.  ALL participants in the Talent Showcase will receive a certificate of participation.

1:  Auditions are being held in Vista’s OFF BROADWAY THEATER – 131 Main Street, Vista, CA.   You must show up no later than 15 minutes before your audition time. . You are not required to wear your costume for the auditions. If you would like to you may, but, it is not required.  EVERYONE WHO AUDITIONS GETS IN THE SHOW... so, why is everyone required to audition?  Because we need to time the numbers as well as preview them for inappropriate content.  Our TALENT SHOWCASE is a family show.  No vulgar language or suggestive dance moves will be allowed on stage.  We've never had a problem with inappropriate acts, and think this is because we preview in advance.

2:  The parent of EACH CHILD auditioning, (under the age of 18), must be in attendance.

3:  Your talent may be no longer than 3 minutes in length. If you are singing the time will start the moment you start singing.  If you are dancing the time will start the moment you move etc.  You may have as long of a music introduction as you want and not be penalized -- The time starts when you do.  IMPORTANT:  What you do for the auditions is the same thing you must do for the talent showcase.  No switching or changing of your act will be allowed.  If you decide to change your act AFTER the initial audition you WILL NOT be allowed to participate.

4:  There is a $10.00 non-refundable audition fee do before you audition.  It covers your insurance while you are with us during the talent show.  Everyone who auditions will get in the show. The only reason you wouldn’t get in the show is if your act is inappropriate for our family audience -- This is why we audition everyone.

5:  There is a MANDATORY MEETING being Monday, October 24th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the OFF Broadway Theater in Vista, (The same place you will be auditioning – 131 Main Street in Vista, CA).  All contestants must show up any time between7 and 9 p.m. This meeting will only take 15 minutes.  This is what you will be doing:  Participants arrive dressed the way they will look the night of the show.  We take their photo for the display case.  You will also turn your music into us with your name on it. . . We make a master C.D. of all the music for the night of the show.  Participants will also be drawing their PERFORMANCE POSITIONS.  Let’s say you are in DIVISION B and we have a total of 16 people in DIVISION B.  You will reach in a hat and pull out a number.  If you pull out a seven. . .That means you are the seventh person to perform in DIVISION B.  ONLY CONTESTANTS MAY DRAW A NUMBER FROM THE HAT.  If you are not there to pull your own number out of the hat you won’t be able to participate in the show.  Tickets for the Talent Show Case will also be available purchase on this night.  Tickets are $5.00 each.

6:  The Talent Show Case will start at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29th.  The particpants are called to the Avo Playhouse by 5:00 p.m. so we can walk them through the events of the night.

7:  All contestants will be required to remain ‘back stage’ during the entire event.

8:  The order of events that evening will be as follows:  The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the public.  Seating is based on a first come first served basis.  If you are first in line you may sit where ever you want.  The DIVISIONS will perform in order of age . . . DIVISION A, followed by DIVISION B and lastly DIVISION C.

9:  If you are doing a number with another person and one of those people is 13, (Division B age) and the other is 16, (Division C age).  The act is automatically put into the older category.  Does that make sense?  So if you have a 6 year old dancing with a 10 year old the act is placed into the Division B category.

So, to set up an audition slot for your child you need to call us at (760) 806-7905 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. seven days a week,  or CLICK HERE  to register on line. Children are not allowed to call and set up appointments – parents only.
